Developmental Courses
Developmental courses are offered to help students review basic skills in order to be successful in college courses. Developmental classes count in your GPA and credit load, but they do not count toward graduation.
Communications
ENG035 Writing Strategies 3 Credits
Writing Improvement emphasizes general grammar review including usage, punctuation, and spelling. Prewriting techniques, editing strategies and paragraph writing for different purposes are covered. This course is offered face-to-face in a classroom, independently with a book or on the computer, or online.
RDG031 Introduction to College Reading II 1 Credit
An individualized course in reading that emphasizes comprehension, vocabulary and reading rate. P/Q grading
RDG120 College Reading 1 Credit
An individualized elective course in reading designed to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary and reading rate. P/Q grading
Mathematics
MAT054 Math Strategies 3 Credits
This course utilizes algebra concepts to review whole numbers, prime factorization, fractions, decimals, percents, ratio and proportion. This course is offered face-to-face in a classroom, independently with a book or on the computer, or online.
Student Development
SDV075 Strategies for Academic Success 1 Credit
Time management, organization, note taking, memory, and test taking strategies for students who are on strict academic probation.
SDV103 Successful Learning 1 Credit
Students master the academic and personal skills needed to succeed in higher education and in life. Content will cover academic, communication and life management skills. Goal setting, time management, note taking, test taking and how to be a lifelong learner will also be covered.
