Diversity Card Project
What is Diversity to you? You are part of a strong and diverse community at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Diversity Card Project asks Students, Staff, and Faculty to use six words to describe their experience or observations with Diversity on one of the provided cards.
Display boards will be on each of the five campuses from October 1st until October 31st. Displays can be accessed at the Estherville and Emmetsburg Libraries, as well as the Success Centers or other public spaces at the Algona, Spencer, and Spirit Lake campuses, and may move around each of the campuses.
A formal event will be held at the Emmetsburg Library on November 14th.
This project is sponsored by the Iowa Lakes Community College Libraries and the Diversity Club.
What is Diversity?
Diversity is “gender, language, manners and culture, social roles, sexual orientation, education, skills, income, and countless other domains” (Greater Good Magazine at UC Berkeley).
The Iowa Lakes Community College Libraries has a Diversity Card Project Guide with resources about Diversity such as Race and Ethnicity, Gender and Sexuality, Social Class, Disability, and Intersectionality: https://iowalakes.libguides.com/diversity_card
