Summer 2020 Information

JULY 7th: UPDATE!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2020 SUMMER COMMENCEMENT

Congratulations Fall 2019, Spring 2020, and upcoming Summer 2020 graduates!

Summer Graduates

Iowa Lakes has received applications for students seeking summer graduation. These applications are on file, and diplomas have been ordered. Ordering a diploma does not mean that all graduation requirements will be met by the end of the summer semester. Diplomas are ordered with the expectation that all requirements will be satisfied. If any problems are identified with an application, Iowa Lakes has notified the student and their advisor.

Graduates Attending the July 24th Commencement

This letter includes many details concerning the commencement ceremony. Please read this letter carefully and help us to make this a safe and memorable event.

Date and Location

The 2020 Graduation and Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. on the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College. Graduation will be held outside, and seating will follow social distancing guidelines. Please see the campus map for a layout of the 2020 Graduation and Commencement Ceremony.

Guests of Graduates

Graduates are asked to please limit the number of guests invited to attend the ceremony to three (3) adult guests. Guests should bring their own seating and will have room to social distance from other groups. We expect all guests to bring and wear masks should social distance barriers be broken. Guests will be asked to remain seated throughout the ceremony.

Please note: The Iowa Department of Public Health strongly encourages anyone over the age of 65, or those with underlying health conditions that may put them at higher risk, should not attend this event. Additionally, if a graduate or any guests have been in personal contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19, or is experiencing any of the following symptoms listed below, also should not plan to attend this event.

  • Fever of 100.4 or above
  • Runny nose, cough, or sore throat

Mailing Diplomas

Iowa Lakes will attempt to clear all summer graduates during August and post awards on student academic records.

Transcripts showing graduation will be available at that time. If grades are missing or there are incomplete (I) grades, this process may take longer. Students seeking to have their transcripts sent should submit these requests now. Please note that the request for transcripts can be held until after graduation is posted.

Diplomas for those cleared will be sent as soon as they are prepared, and usually happens within eight weeks.

Reminder to summer graduates. Do not forget to keep the diploma cover you receive at the 2020 Graduation and Commencement ceremony.
