New vice president of administration hired at Iowa Lakes Community College
A new vice president of administration has been hired at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Robert (Bob) Leifeld was approved at the Board of Trustees meeting June 20. He currently serves as the executive dean of the Estherville campus and will start his new duties as vice president on July 1. As the vice president of administration, Leifeld oversees the college accreditation team, college technology, Northwest Iowa STEM, director of high school partnerships, Instructional and Development office, campus director of Algona, Spencer, & Spirit Lake campuses and serves as chief academic officer.
“Bob brings to the position recent experiences at multiple institutions which will serve him well. Having already serving as part of the leadership team, he is aware of our strengths and challenges, and his skill set is a great fit for the responsibilities he will have with this new position,” said Valerie Newhouse, President of Iowa Lakes Community College. “If you have already met Bob, you will know he has a very positive attitude and a broad academic background. This combined with his technology interest will continue the great work that was started under the leadership of Scott Stokes.”
He has worked for nearly three years as the executive dean of the Estherville campus.
Leifeld is actively involved in the Estherville community. He serves as an Estherville Ambassador and works extensively with the Emmet County Relay for Life, Rotary and serves as chair of Estherville’s Joint Service Club dance committee.
“Iowa Lakes is an awesome institution,” Leifeld said. “I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve the college as executive dean in Estherville and will put forth the same dedication and passion in completing my duties as vice president of administration at all our locations and represent each region to the best of my abilities.”
Leifeld has a master’s degree in education from Iowa State University and is currently working on a doctorate in higher education. In addition, he has a bachelor’s degree, multiple associate degrees and a diploma from various community and technical colleges.
