Megger donation impacts Iowa Lakes energy-focused programs
Students in the Wind Energy and Turbine Technology and Electrical Technology programs benefit from industry in many ways. Professionals serve on the program advisory committees, create scholarship opportunities and donate valuable equipment. All enhance the education experience.
David S. Danner, Director of USA Distribution Sales for Megger, has been working with Iowa Community College since 2008 to provide students in the Wind Energy Technology Program with up-to-date, high-quality electrical testing equipment. Danner explains the importance of these equipment donations:
"At the forefront of new technology and improved electrical service, Megger is pleased to be integrally involved with the educational process," Danner said. "To that end, we are proud to donate the DLRO200, a leading-edge low resistance ohmmeter, that promotes the highest quality in accuracy, reliability, and above all safety."
The DLRO200 is a versatile piece of equipment that can provide test currents from 10 amps up to 200 amps. The electrical testing device is portable and weighs less than 33 pounds. The high current capability and compact design makes this equipment suitable for testing circuit breaker contacts, switch contacts, busbar joints, or other applications where high current is needed.
“Megger's outreach with our technology programs is a fine example of putting the tools of best practices in safety to work,” stated Dan Lutat, Director of Sustainable Energy Resources and Technology.
“David is a great asset to our program,” stated Doug Zemler, Electrical Technology Program Coordinator. “He ensures the students are getting their hands on some of the best equipment Megger has to offer.”
"Dave's dedication to the program over the years is a perfect example of program coordinator's linkage to industry. Our students continue to be "energized" by the synergy," said Jolene Rogers, Executive Director of Community & Business Relations.
