Coffee House Concert to raise funds for local woman
For more than 30 years Linda Kautz worked at the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College, helping students with questions and concerns, promoting student activities and often serving as their mom-away-from-home.
Now that Kautz is fighting cancer, the community is hoping to help her out, with the upcoming Linda Kautz Benefit Coffee House and Concert, set for 5 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the Estherville Elks Lodge.
“(Kautz) has a deep love of Iowa Lakes and the Estherville community,” said Carol Ayres Stueven, professor of instrumental music and jazz band at Iowa Lakes. “She has always promoted all the student athletic teams and all the music ensembles. She loves our students!”
The event will include a supper of maidrites, chips, beans and a dessert, as well as music performed by a number of different musicians. They include celebrated Spirit Lake pianist Glenn Henriksen and popular local entertainers the Itty Bitty Boji Band. The Iowa Lakes Community College and community singers and handbells will also perform. Those attending are also invited to bring their dance shoes, because the Iowa Lakes Jazz Band will be playing dance music at the event. A silent auction will run from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
A freewill offering will be taken. Anyone unable to attend who would like to contribute can send a donation to Employees Credit Union, 2714 Central Avenue, Estherville, IA 51334.
The event is sponsored by the Iowa Lakes Relay for Life, the Emmet County Relay for Life and Thrivent Financial.
