Classical saxophonist and pianist to play at Iowa Lakes
The Iowa Lakes Community College Music Department will present a recital by saxophonist Andrew Allen and pianist Rachelle Gewecke at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 in the Estherville Campus Gymnasium.
Admission to the recital is free and open to the public. A free-will donation will be taken with proceeds going to Hurricane Maria relief efforts by Friends of Puerto Rico.
Allen, a classical saxophonist, has performed around the United States and the world as a soloist and as a member of the Luther College Concert Band, the University of Nebraska Wind Ensemble, the Ellipsis Saxophone Quartet, the Pelegon Saxophone Quartet, and the University of Iowa Saxophone Ensemble.
Allen reached the finals of the Music Teachers National Association chamber music competition with the Pelegon Saxophone Quartet and performed on the University of Iowa Saxophone Ensemble’s 2015 recording, “Contemplation,” on Jeanne Digital Recordings label.
