We are excited to announce that Dr. Ryan Person from Morningside College will be the guest conductor for Heartland Honor choir this year!
Dr. Ryan Person is the Director of Choral Activities at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, where he directs the Morningside Choir, Singing Men of Morningside, and Master Chorale. In addition to choral ensemble leadership, he teaches courses in Choral Conducting and Choral Methods.
Prior to Morningside, Person taught and studied at Texas Tech University where he served as Graduate Associate Conductor while pursuing a doctoral degree in Choral Conducting at Texas Tech University. As a high school choral director, Person enriched the choral music program at West High School in Iowa City, Iowa, and ensembles under his direction were featured at notable choral conferences and festivals around the Midwest, including the 2014 North Central American Choral Directors Conference.
During his fifteen years as a choral conductor and educator, Person has been an active member of professional choral music organizations and has held numerous leadership positions. He frequently serves as a guest director, clinician, and presenter and was most recently honored to co-present a choral literature session with Richard Bjella at the 2017 National Collegiate Choral Organization Conference in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Person completed Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University and holds additional music degrees from Michigan State University and Luther College.
