7 Summit Pathways Scholarship for Recovering Addicts
Amount: $1,000
Deadline for Applications: February 15th
Class Standing:  Be accepted into an accredited post-secondary school
Requirements:  Submit an essay on one of the essay topics; Applicants must submit a copy of their transcript and complete online application;  Be recovering from alcohol and/or illicit drug addiction

For persons living in the Spencer area to pursue education and training to become a certified EMS provider. More information may be found at

Addiction Awareness Scholarship is offering $10,000 in scholarships this semester to three students who share their views on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

The founder of created the site a few years ago after struggling with addiction during his college years. His idea was to create a platform where people could find information about addiction and treatment through modalities to locate the appropriate fit.

The Opportunity Grant helps pay tuition and other school-related expenses for students who have aged out of Iowa’s foster care system and students adopted after their 16th birthday. For more information on this scholarship visit

Avomeen is an independent analytical and chemical testing laboratory. Their chemist specializes in analyzing and developing both consumer and industrial products. The Avomeen scholarship program is part of Avomeen’s effort to help those who demonstrate high academic achievement, exceptional leadership qualities and involvement with community service defray the costs of obtaining their science education. At, we value education highly and want to give back to our community at large. We are also passionate about promoting sleep awareness and created this scholarship to both help further that cause and to help students pay for the increasing costs of higher education. This scholarship is intended to be used for tuition during the 2018-19 school year.

Deputy is proud to support women pursuing careers in technology with our Deputy Women in Technology Scholarship. This scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to one student annually who is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, business technology administration or a related IT field. Des Moines Chapter of the Mothers of Multiples organization
The Des Moines Chapter of the Mothers of Multiples organization is sponsoring one $500 scholarship for the 2017-2018 academic year for Iowa's multiple birth students pursuing enrollment or currently enrolled in a college, university, trade or vocational school. Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing any associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement. Areas of study that will be considered include Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Homeland Security, Sociology with Law/Criminal emphasis, Corrections, Computer Forensics, and Forensic Psychology, among others.

Liberal Arts and General Studies Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Liberal Arts, General Studies, or Humanities. 

Architecture and Drafting Degrees
Undergraduate Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing an associate or bachelor degree program emphasizing Architecture, Architectural Drafting or Design, or Architectural Engineering. 

Undergraduate Distance Learning Degrees
Academic Award  A $500 academic award given to a student pursuing a distance learning associate or bachelor degree program. Available to all part-time or full-time undergraduate students completing an online degree program.

Everspark Autism Awareness Scholarship
Requirements include the applicants must submit a video essay no longer than 2 minutes OR a written essay no longer than 1,000 words on one topic, been diagnosed with autism of any form OR are studying autism-related research at a university. Minimum GPA is 2.6 and award amount is $1,000.

Application deadline is August 30. 

Friends of Kossuth Youth & 4-H
For second college students. Friends of Kossuth Youth & 4-H are offering a Leadership and Citizenship Excellence Award. Available to anyone attending a college or university in Iowa or a boarding state who will be considered a fulltime student next academic year and has completed one year of college. The recipient must be a Kossuth County residence. Further requirements are listed on the application.

Good Samaritan Society- Jackson Scholarship and Loan Repayment Program

Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education Scholarships
Scholarship Criteria:

  1. Applicants must be committed to the pursuit of automotive-related studies, such as technician training, body shop/collision repair, diesel, new vehicles sales, parts sales, accounting, or business administration. 
  2. Applications are due at IADA headquarters by 5 p.m. on March 1.
  3. Applicants must submit the following to be considered for a scholarship:
  • A letter written by the applicant detailing their career goals and interest in pursuing an automotive career.
  • An application signed by the president or general manager of an IADA member dealership.
  • A recommendation from a high school or college teacher, counselor, or co-worker.
  • An unofficial transcript of high school or college grades.
  • A copy of the applicant’s Expected Family Contribution from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Excluded from consideration are immediate family members (first generation) of a car or truck dealership owner. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to attend an Iowa college or university. Scholarships may be awarded, in part, on financial need. Prior scholarship recipients who have 2.5 GPA may re-apply.

Scholarships are available for students planning on transferring to Iowa State University after completion of studies at Iowa Lakes Community College.  Please visit their Financial Aid Website:
The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at Iowa State University has an online scholarship application called FinAidScholar.  The FinAidScholar application is a single application for all scholarships administered through the OSFA.

Iowa Student Loan offers $2,000 scholarships for 30 Iowa high school seniors through the Iowa financial Know-How Challenge: Senior Scholarship. Registration is open now at:

Iowa Women in Natural Resources Scholarship
Iowa Women in Natural Resources (IWINR) encourages young adults to pursue careers in the natural resources fields, which include jobs in wildlife, fisheries, and environmental management; forest resources; nongame specialists; environmental education; conservation law enforcement; and various related fields.
IWINR is sponsoring a non-gender-based scholarship as noted below:
Minimum Requirement:

  • Enrolled in or plan to enroll in an Iowa University, college, or community college
  • Pursuing a career in a natural resources field
  • Currently working on a conservation project or are planning to work on one
  • Present project at IWINR’s annual conference
    o    Location to be announced at a later date
    o    20-minute presentation
    o    Details and flexibility related to presentation format and travel to be discussed with the successful applicant

James B. Morris Scholarship Fund

The Criteria necessary to apply for the scholarship is applicants must be of minority ethnic status defined by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and have a minimum 2.5 G.P.A. All applicants must be U.S. citizens and provide a social security number as well as being: 1.) Iowa High School graduates and residents of Iowa who are attending any U.S. college or university; 2.) Non-Iowa residents who are attending Iowa colleges or universities.

Karman Mobility Disability Scholarship
Karman Healthcare is proud to announce that we will be providing college and university students with a scholarship opportunity to help them reach their ultimate goals in life.
We will be offering two $500 scholarships for currently enrolled students that meet the requirements.

This scholarship applies to students who have a mobility disability, excelled academically and those who have a regard for disability awareness in America.
All academic applicants who meet the criteria are welcome to submit their application to this year’s Karman Healthcare Scholarship Fund.

The Kitchen Professor Scholarship
The Kitchen Professor’s scholarship program is intended to help future leaders of the foodservice and hospitality industries achieve their potential. Annually, undergraduate and postgraduate students with a passion for the culinary arts have the chance to receive a $500 scholarship grant, which can be used toward course materials, books, and other educational resources.  students currently enrolled in a college, university, high school, or trade school may apply for this scholarship.  For More information go to 

Lalco residency Annual Scholarship Program

Leavitt Machinery Forklift Training Vancouver Scholarship

  1. Currently enrolled or expects to be enrolled in a degree program (2 years in length or greater) by September.
  2. A student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Legacy for Longer Healthier Lives Scholarship
Scholarship applications from high school senior, undergraduate, or graduate students – will be accepted starting January 1st through April 30th. Scholarship awardees will be notified by June 30. Scholarship funds may be used for tuition, books and related living expenses while attending any accredited college or university within the U.S.
•    Applicants must provide evidence of community service activities in an underserved community setting. Service activities may include activism, outreach, or peer counseling in tobacco prevention or control. The community services activity should be described in the personal statement and (see application instructions on page 5).
•    Applicants must submit documentation of financial need for scholarship funds (SAR report).
•    Students pursuing a course of study in public health, communications, social work, education, liberal arts or a related field will be considered eligible.
•    Applicants must have a Grade Point Average of at least a 3.0 (B average) for the most recent academic year.
•    Student must be a U.S. resident or a permanent legal resident of the U.S.

Licensed Nurse Scholarship
This scholarship is sponsored by, a leading licensed nurse information website in the United States. Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Students must be between the ages of 16-21.
  • Students must be attending school in the fall of 2018

Live Career Scholarship

  1. Create – Write an original, never-before-published essay of between 200 and 800 words on the following topic: “Which personal or educational accomplishment will you be proudest to share with future employers and why?”

Mark and Carol Schuller Memorial Scholarship
One-year scholarships for employees of the Palo Alto County Health System who are pursuing a healthcare related degree at an accredited university, junior college, or trade school, and who demonstrate the abilities required to successfully complete the requirements of the institution chosen. Preference is given to those employees who currently and will continue to work in direct patient care. Details about this scholarship and about Mark and Carol can be found at 

How to apply: 
The online application is a “common application,” meaning that students can complete the one application and then be automatically matched to any other scholarship for which they are eligible. Please alert the Palo Alto County Health System employees that the application is really geared for high school seniors, so they should do their best in answering questions that might not seem relevant.  On the plus side, there may be an additional scholarship for which they may qualify, so that’s a plus! Masonry Institute of Iowa Scholarship Opportunity
Annually the Masonry Institute of Iowa offers scholarships to all HS seniors and college students that are in/going into the construction/architectural/engineering/masonry fields at an Iowa institution of higher learning.  The 2018 scholarship program has been announced.

Mattress Help Scholarship is pleased to announce our annual Sleep Health Scholarship. Each student who is awarded our scholarship will be given $1,000 towards their university or college fees.

Minnesota Crop Production Retailers Scholarship
To be eligible for this $1,000 scholarship, the applicant must be a student entering their second, third, or fourth year of a four-year institution of higher learning or, the second year of a two-year institution of higher learning with a major involving crop production.

Students must submit the requirements as listed here and have the package postmarked by November 1, 2018:

  • A completed copy of the application form*
  • The applicant must have a declared major in an agricultural related field of study; preference given to applicants that have declared a major focusing on crop production.
  • The applicant must be a Minnesota resident.
  • The applicant must complete and include two essays as follows:
    o    Explain in 500 words or less why you decided to major in agriculture and what you plan on doing after graduation.
    o    Describe in 500 words or less any ag related or leadership programs or projects you have been involved with in high school, college, or elsewhere.
  • One letter of recommendation.
  • Most recent official, student transcript from the applicant’s school.

General requirements:

  • Must be attending classes in the Fall 2018 semester
  • Applicant must be enrolled in a program that is two years in length or longer

This scholarship is being ran ongoing twice a year with one due date on 1/1 and the other on 8/1 of every year going forward.

P.E.O. Chapter PA Scholarship
A local P.E.O. Chapter PA Scholarship has been established to benefit area women in the pursuit of their higher education.

The local chapter, PA, was established in 2005 and offers this scholarship opportunity to a graduating high school senior woman or a woman currently enrolled in an institution of higher education who previously graduated from a Dickinson County school district.  Eligible applicants must be in good academic standing at their current school.  High consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating positive character and a commitment to community service.  Applicants should indicate in their personal summary any honors, special recognitions and extracurricular involvement they have had while attending school.  Applicants may reapply yearly. For an application click here.

Providian Medical Scholarship

Providian Medical, a  leading company in the sales and service of new and refurbished ultrasound, MRI, and CT medical equipment, is pleased to announce its first annual “Providian Medical Scholarship.” At Providian Medical, we believe that education is key for anyone preparing to enter the workplace and embark on a career. To that end, we hope to play a small part in helping students achieve their educational goals with this bi-annual $500 scholarship.

Pureland Supply Vocational and Skilled Trade Scholarship
Scholarship Description: Pureland Supply sells high quality replacement projector lamps to various Universities, schools, and government entities. We understand the importance of skilled trades in our society and appreciate those who learn and perform specific occupational trades.

The $1,000 Pureland Supply Scholarship is open for students who have been accepted to an accredited community college, technical school, or trade school. Recipients are chosen on their ability to describe how their chosen trade or field plays an important role in today’s world and how the student expects to play a part in the future of their trade or field.

We are offering a $2,000 scholarship to an eligible student who has been a caregiver for a senior friend or relative. One student, who will be attending college or university in the Fall of 2018, will receive $2,000 for tuition and/or books.

  • Students must be attending a two or four-year university or college in the Fall of 2018. They must have been involved in caregiving for a family member or friend.

Shopko Teammate and Family Members Scholarship Program

Straight North STEM Scholarship
With Internet marketing becoming more complex and challenging by the day, successful execution requires a solid education. As an industry leader, Straight North supports students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.

Through the Straight North STEM Scholarship, we award the winning student $1,000 to be used toward his or her degree. In addition, we award $250 book scholarships to the two runners-up. To apply please visit

Who can apply: current students enrolled in a two-year school in the Transfer Times distribution area (Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin)
Description: Transfer Times awards two $6000 scholarships per academic year to a two-year student who is transferring to a four-year school that advertises in Transfer Times. Winners are selected at random. See online entry form for complete contest rules.

Travel Nursing Career Scholarship is excited to offer a $1,000 Nursing Career Scholarship to help nurses advance their career and reach their professional goals. 
We are devoted to helping nurses succeed at all points in their career. It is our goal in offering a nursing scholarship like this to help nurses advance their career through continuing education and/or advanced degree opportunities.

Varsity Tutors' is a private tutoring & test prep service with more than 800 tutors in 10 cities, and they have decided to give back to the community by offering a monthly $1,000 college scholarship to students who plan on or are currently attending a 4-year university.  Prizes are awarded monthly and will be paid directly to the winner's college or university at their time of enrollment.
