American Legion Scholarship rewards excellence in service to veterans and families
On Wednesday, Sept. 27, members of the American Legion of Iowa Foundation visited the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College to meet with scholarship recipients. The Foundation awarded Iowa Lakes a $2000 grant, which supports four $500 scholarships for students who are veterans or who are dependents of veterans.
“We are pleased to partner with the American Legion of Iowa Foundation to provide support to our students, especially veterans and their children. It was a pleasure to have the Legionnaires on campus to meet with the scholarship recipients,” said Lisa Stich, Executive Dean of the Estherville campus.
The Foundation fulfilled 93 grant award requests in 2016, totaling $396,893. Students who are veterans or a dependent of a veteran are eligible for the scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College.
