Students taking Introduction to Photography used a Pinhole box camera to create images. A pinhole camera is a light tight box with a very small pinhole and a flap to cover the pinhole. A piece of photo paper is loaded into the camera, in the darkroom, and the camera is taken outside.

The flap is lifted and the student counts the number of seconds and the flap is closed at the end of the exposure.

The camera is taken back into the darkroom. The exposed paper is removed from the camera and processed and dried. This yields a paper negative. After the negative has dried, it is contact printed, to create a positive print.
