ASSET AND COMPASS

Iowa Lakes provides assessment services to all freshman. These assessments guide you into appropriate academic courses.

ASSET and COMPASS assess skills in the areas of writing, reading and mathematics.

ASSET is a timed paper-and-pencil test while COMPASS is an untimed test on the computer.  The use of calculators is not allowed on the numerical skills test of ASSET, but is allowed on other math tests.  After completing the assessment, an advisor will help you identify your skills and compare them to recommended scores for entry into specific courses.  You will also learn about resources at Iowa Lakes Community College that can help you reach your goals.
