Associate of Arts (AA) degree
Buena Vista University transcripts all credits included in an AA degree or associate of
science (AS) degree and selected associate of applied science (AAS) degrees. A maximum of
68 semester hours from a community college will be counted toward the minimum 128 hours
required for graduation.
Individual Courses
Buena Vista normally transcripts all arts and sciences or college transfer course work.
The actual equivalency or appropriateness of a specific transfer course for major,
minor, concentration or general education area is determined by the Registrar’s
Office in consultation with the appropriate School Dean.
Majors or Programs at Iowa Lakes
Through the Lakes and Prairie Center at Iowa Lakes, the following majors are available:
Accounting, Elementary Education, Human Services, Management/Entrepreneurship, Psychology,
Political Science, Political Science/Corrections, Political Science/Criminal Justice-Legal
Assistant-Pre-Law, Sociology, and Technology Management. Minors in Psychology, Sociology,
and Political Science are available. Specific guides that have the course requirement and
equivalencies are available in the Center or an Iowa Lakes advisor or counselor. The Buena
