Conservation Club
Advisor: Gary Phillips

Environmental Studies Program

The Conservation Club is designed to provide students with an opportunity to become involved in community service learning activities through participation in local volunteer conservation projects.

Currently the club is involved in an extensive prairie restoration project at Fort Defiance State Park. Other service learning activities include participation in the Iowa Adopt-A-Highway program, a tree planting project for the Estherville city park system and various projects for local county conservation boards and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Other club activities include picnics, fishing contests, presentations by guest speakers and campus social events. Typically the club meets monthly. However, during the fall and spring months, the club usually meets more frequently.

If you are interested in helping to make the world you live in a better place, the Conservation Club is for you. To join, contact Gary Phillips on the Estherville Campus at 712-362-7978 or by email at gphillips@iowalakes.edu.
