Area inventors are encouraged to learn the key steps to success at a meeting planned in Spencer in late April.
“Obviously, we want to encourage people to attend if they have a ‘product’ that they want to promote,” said Kelly McCarty, Regional Director of the Northwest Iowa Small Business Development Center. “But we want to also encourage those who are just thinking about an ‘idea’ to attend this session also. This seminar will give them the tools to turn that idea or product into a successful business – and, it’s being offered at a very reasonable price.”
The seminar is called “Concept to Reality – A Launch Pad to Successful Inventing” and will be held on Saturday, April 30, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Some key items which will be covered include helping participants understand the process of how to get that idea or product to a commercial level; how to protect that idea with a patent or trademark; how to market the product; and, how to find the money to make the whole process a reality.
This seminar, presented by the Iowa Small Business Development Center and Iowa Lakes Community College Continuing Education, will help inventors get a successful start on their next venture. It will be held at the Spencer campus of Iowa Lakes, 1900 Grand Ave., Spencer.
Cost of the seminar is just $35 and includes lunch and materials. To register, call the Iowa Lakes registration staff at 800-252-5664 or complete an online application at www.iowalakes.edu
