Harold Prior was
appointed the sixth president of Iowa Lakes Community College on
January 24, 2006. The son of an Iowa farm family, Harold graduated
in 1967 from Orient Macksburg High School in Orient, Iowa.
He received a
Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Peru State College in Peru, Neb.,
in 1971 and completed a Master’s Degree in Educational
Administration at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville,
Mo., in 1978. He completed a Ph.D. in Educational Administration at
Iowa State University in 1991.
In the first eight
years of his educational career, Harold served as a high school
teacher and coach and as a high school principal. He also served as
Superintendent of Schools in four different Iowa school districts
over the last 23 years. The most recent experience was as
Superintendent in the Algona Community School district from 1988
through 2006.
He was a presenter
at numerous state conferences and authored several educational
publications. In 2000, he was honored as Superintendent of the Year
by the School Administrators of Iowa. |
