National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
Iowa Lakes Community College, in cooperation with IowaWORKS (Northwest Iowa), is conducting testing which can enhance the resumes of those seeking work throughout the region.
The test is called WorkKeys® and it helps identify work-related skills which applicants possess.
More than 50 employers in this region are using this to help identify work skills of applicants.
This certificate can help job seekers ‘stand out from the crowd.’ The testing isn’t just for the unemployed. Those who may currently be employed, but are looking for a better job, should consider taking this test as it can offer them a ‘preferred’ status when searching for new employment.
The test was designed by ACT®, a nationally recognized independent organization which provides a broad range of educational assessment tools.
Tests are given in Algona, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer and Spirit Lake. There is NO CHARGE to take this exam.
Following the testing, a certificate is awarded (National Career Readiness CertificateTM) in each of three areas: applied math, reading for information and the ability to locate information. Bronze, silver, gold and platinum certificates are awarded, based on the skill level of each participant.
Iowa Lakes has two certified administrators for the test.
