The college is concerned when a
student has academic problems and provides opportunities and recommendations to help every
student to succeed. There are a number of forms of assistance available to
all students through the
Success Center.
Ultimately, the final effort to succeed at the college level and to get
assistance when needed rests with the student.
Academic probation occurs when a
student's grade point average slips below 1.80 for a first semester freshman or 2.00 for
other students. The purpose of academic probation is to indicate the need for and provide
special assistance to the student. Smaller credit loads are also recommended.
The Academic Review
Committee,
which is composed of faculty, staff and administration members, review the academic
records of all students each term. Students on probation follow the procedures and
guidelines published in the Student Handbook.
