This four-part course includes coaching theory, sports
medicine, sports psychology and sports physiology. It leads to
coaching authorization for the State of Iowa as a junior high or
senior high coach.

Human growth and development in children and youth in
relation to physical activity.
PEC-120 Body Structure &
Function, 1 cr.
The structure and function of the human body in relation to
physical activity.
PEC-126 Athletic Injury
Prevention, 2 cr.
Course provides a knowledge and understanding of the
prevention, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
PEC-128 Care & Prevent
Athl. Injuries, 3 cr.
Basic recognition, prevention, care and rehabilitation of
athletic injuries. Evaluation of protective devices, nutrition
and conditioning are included.
PEC-160 Sports
Officiating, 2 cr.
Principles and standards, rules, mechanics and procedures
for officiating competitive sports.
