A paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.

Legal tasks typically performed by a paralegal include:

  • evaluating cases

  • conducting client and witness interviews

  • drafting court pleadings and motions

  • performing legal research

  • preparing legal documents, such as contracts, wills, and deeds

  • managing and organizing case files

  • helping attorneys prepare for trials and hearings.

The mission of our program is to rigorously prepare future paralegals to provide professional support services to the legal community in a competent, diligent, and ethical manner.
