WHAT IS
ARTICULATION?
The competencies, performance levels and
content of articulated courses have been agreed upon by the high school
and Iowa Lakes Community College for advanced placement or credit in a
career and technical program. An articulation agreement must be in force
between the high school and Iowa Lakes Community College for credit to
be granted.
Credit for articulated courses is entered on
an Iowa Lakes Community College transcript after the student has
accumulated 12 or more semester hours at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Students must attend Iowa Lakes Community

College within 18 months of high school
graduation to be eligible for articulated credit. Articulated credit is
given for Iowa Lakes Community College career and technical program
classes.
WHO MAY ENROLL?
Articulated credit for high school classes
is recorded after the student has enrolled in a career and technical
program at Iowa Lakes Community College. There is no required
enrollment while the student is in high school.
WHAT CLASSES ARE
ELIGIBLE?
Articulated credit is available only for
classes in career and technical programs at Iowa Lakes Community
College. A valid articulation agreement must be in effect between the
high school and Iowa Lakes Community College at the time the student is
enrolled in the high school class.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
There is no tuition cost to the student for
articulated credit however, a $5 fee will be charged when the credit is
posted on the student’s Iowa Lakes Community College transcript.
WHAT ABOUT CREDIT
TRANSFER?
The articulated credit will only be accepted
by Iowa Lakes Community College. Transfer to other institutions after
completing the program at Iowa Lakes Community College will depend upon
their policy. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the
institution to determine if credit will be accepted.
HOW DO I START?
The student should first contact the high
school counselor to determine if a valid articulation agreement exists.
The “Recommendation for Articulated College Credit” form is completed by
the instructor and submitted to the Iowa Lakes Community College
Registrar upon completion of the course.
