Job availability in Surgical Technology is very high. There are very few programs in northwest Iowa and southern Minnesota providing skilled technicians. As a result, the Association of Surgical Technology has determined that the average starting salary in Iowa is $11.33 per hour and $14.44 in Minnesota.

All the area hospitals participate as practicum sites. The student may have opportunities for employment at their practicum site after graduation. Practicum is divided into two terms. The first gives you time to become familiar with the field to make sure you like it. The summer practicum is full-time in a hospital operating room.

The Surgical Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs. This accreditation allows you to be eligible to take a certification examination after you have completed the program.
