Iowa Lakes Community College is accredited as an institution
by the
Higher
Learning Commission of the North Central Association of
Colleges and Schools, 30 North LaSalle Street, Suite
2400, Chicago, Illinois.
In 1975,
Iowa Lakes Community College was granted accreditation by
the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (now
known as the Higher Learning Commission). Iowa Lakes
maintained its accreditation under the traditional
Self-Study process until August 2004 when the HLC accepted
the college into the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP). This
alternative to self-study is based on a continuous
improvement model developed by the HLC. AQIP participation
is entirely voluntary.
Iowa Lakes Community College is accredited by the
Iowa Department of
Education. State accreditation cycles are
coordinated with HLC cycles.
The college is an institutional member of the American
Association of Community Colleges. Programs are approved
for veteran's education and by the U.S. Justice Department,
the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Iowa Board of
Nursing. Some academic programs have also sought and
received accreditations. Program web pages provide details
of these program-level accreditations.
