IWEA ELECTS NEW OFFICERS AT ANNUAL MEETING 
The Iowa Wind Energy Association Board of Directors held the IWEA annual meeting in the Iowa Lakes Community College Wind Energy and Turbine Technology Building Thursday, June 26.  Many of those who couldn’t attend joined the discussions via teleconference, including special guest Rural Development Under Secretary Tom Dorr.

IOWA LAKES FOUNDATION GOLF OUTING BENEFITS KOSSUTH RESIDENTS
The Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation held its annual golf outing on June 6 at the Algona Country Club.  Seventy-two golfers hit the links to benefit Kossuth County residents with scholarships to attend Iowa Lakes, raising over $6,000.

Motorcycle enthusiasts should mark their calendar for Saturday, July 19 for the 6th Annual Iowa Lakes Foundation Scholarship Poker Ride.  Proceeds from this ride benefit students with scholarships to attend Iowa Lakes Community College.

Golf enthusiasts are invited to attend the Iowa Lakes Community College Foundation’s Clay County Scholarship Golf Outing on Friday, June 20.  Registration begins at 11 a.m. with shotgun start at 12 p.m. A short awards program will follow play with prizes being distributed.

M.C. (Merwyn) Gill of Pasadena, Calif., was presented the Jim Hall Outstanding Alumni Award by Alumni & Friends President Marian Brunsvold at the Iowa Lakes Community College spring commencement at the Estherville campus on Friday, May 9.

IOWA LAKES SOFTBALL
After one of the best seasons in college history, five Iowa Lakes softball players were named to All-American teams this past week.  Sophomores Aly Bowers and Kimmie White along with freshman Stephanie Ochoa were named NJCAA All-Americans.  Bowers, White, Ochoa, sophomore Brittany Brohmer, and freshmen Camiel Salcedo were all named to the NFCA All-American team.
