For the second year in a row, Iowa Lakes Community College’s Volleyball team has been named one of the Fall Academic Teams of the Year from the National Junior College Athletic Association.

‘NORTHWEST IOWA OPEN’ BENCH PRESS CLASSIC TO BE HELD AT THE SMITH WELLNESS CENTER
The 4th annual “Northwest Iowa Open” bench press classic has been announced by Meet Director Dennis Goeders. The classic will be held Saturday, April 1, at 10 a.m. at the Smith Wellness Center in Emmetsburg.

SALES AND MARKETING STUDENTS AT IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE EARN STATE RECOGNITION AT 2006 CONFERENCE
The Iowa Lakes Community College Sales and Marketing Management Program competed at the State Delta Epsilon Chi - DECA Career Development Conference in Des Moines earlier this month. Delta Epsilon Chi is the college division of Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), which is a National Student Organization for students pursuing a career in Business and Sales and Marketing Management related careers. This is an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge of business and network with various corporate sponsors while at the conference.

IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED
Iowa Lakes Community College has announced the establishment of the “We Believe In Us” Construction Technology Scholarship. This scholarship is a direct result of the Iowa Lakes Foundation’s “We Believe In Us” Annual Giving Program. Iowa Lakes’ employees and alumni, community businesses and individuals annually donate to the program for the betterment of the college and its students through scholarships or improvement in programs.

DEADLINE EXTENDED ON NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
The establishment of the Jens & Helen Kirkegaard Memorial Scholarship at Iowa Lakes Community College was announced earlier this year. Because this scholarship is so new and offers a wonderful opportunity for a Practical Nursing student at Iowa Lakes, the donors have decided to extend the application deadline to May 5, 2006.

Two Iowa Lakes Community College men’s basketball players have received post-season accolades for their play during the season. Kurt Hesse of Readlyn and Aaron Smith of Cedar Rapids were named over the weekend by the region’s coaches.
