DORMS PLANNED FOR SPENCER AND
ESTHERVILLE AT IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY
COLLEGE
The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes
Community College took action at
their meeting Tuesday afternoon to
add dormitories in Estherville and
Spencer. The Trustees approved plans
to build two, four-plex dorms in
Spencer and add two additional four-plex
dorms to the housing complex in
Estherville. The space is needed in
Estherville due to high occupancy
rates at the campus. In Spencer,
surveys indicate additional students
would attend the Spencer Campus of
Iowa Lakes if dorms were available.

The Chief Academic Officer of Iowa
Lakes Community College has resigned
to advance to a presidency in
Kansas. Dr. Rick Underbakke has been
offered the position of President at
Cloud County Community College in
Kansas.

MOHNI PROMOTED TO CHIEF ACADEMIC
OFFICER AT IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY
COLLEGE
Mary Mohni, the Executive Dean at
the Estherville Campus of Iowa Lakes
Community College for the past three
years, has been named as the new
Chief Academic Officer of the
college. She succeeds Dr. Rick
Underbakke who has resigned to
advance to a college presidency in
Kansas.

new Executive Dean of the
Estherville Campus. Mary Larscheid,
currently Dean of the Spirit Lake
Campus of Iowa Lakes, succeeds Mary
Mohni, who was promoted to Chief
Academic Officer of the college.

CONCERT BAND
Five Iowa Lakes Community College
students have been selected to
participate in the Collegiate
Al-Star Concert Band. Kristie Harson,
Estherville, flute; Holly Davidson,
Emmetsburg, alto sax; Tim Powers,
Emmetsburg, tenor sax; Megan Van
Schepen, Arnolds Park, tenor sax;
and Billy Hansen, Estherville,
euphonium; will perform in the 12th
Annual Iowa Collegiate All-Star
Concert Band held on Nov. 18-19, on
the Iowa State University Campus.
