Students from the Iowa Lakes Community College chapter of SkillsUSA once again made the annual trip to the national SkillsUSA Conference – and came home winners.

COCA-COLA SCHOLARS FOUNDATION AWARDS IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE STUDENT $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP THROUGH THE COCA-COLA TWO-YEAR COLLEGES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
An Iowa Lakes Community College student from Spirit Lake has been selected to receive a Scholarship from Coca-Cola. Danielle Ettema will be given a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.

Two Algona High School students have brought home a national championship. Josh Becker and Kelly Teeselink won the National SkillsUSA Broadcast competition held in Kansas City last week.

GARRETT HINEY: ‘I HATED SCHOOL, UNTIL CAREER ACADEMY’
Feature Story #5: The Career Academy at Iowa Lakes Community College was still in its infancy when former Armstrong-Ringsted Superintendent James O’Meara approached a group of juniors to ask if they were interested in the possibility of traveling daily to Emmetsburg to attend some classes.
