IOWA LAKES LAKER/ALUMNI GAME SET FOR SATURDAY, NOV. 6
The Iowa Lakes Community College Athletics Department is sponsoring the annual “Youth Basketball/Drug Awareness Clinic” preceding the men’s Lakers vs. Alumni Basketball game on Saturday, Nov. 6. The youth clinic will be held at 4:30 p.m. (doors will open at 4 p.m.) with the expected tip off of the game to be at 6 p.m. All area youth are encouraged to attend and enjoy instruction in the fundamentals of the game from the Iowa Lakes men’s basketball players.

ALBERT MENSAH TO INSPIRE ALL
An internationally recognized speaker, author and humanitarian will be the main speaker at several area events Nov. 10 and 11. Albert Mensah’s story is one of commitment, passion, humor and motivation. One of his first public appearances will be over the lunch hour at the Spencer Senior Center on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

In 1986, National Philanthropy Month was established by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The month is designed to honor those who exemplify the spirit of philanthropy, a word with Greek roots meaning “love of mankind.”

BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA HOST PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING ON UPCOMING ELECTION AND VOTER REGISTRATION PROCESS
Organizers of the Election Information Meeting held at Iowa Lakes Community College last week have deemed the event a success. The informative and educational meeting for the public was conducted by the Business Professionals of America chapter members on the upcoming election and the importance of registering to vote and then voting. This public meeting was open to all who took the time to attend. During the meeting, the platforms for the three major national parties were presented and explained.

BLOOD DRIVE PLANNED FOR EMMETSBURG
The Blood Center of Iowa needs help in collecting 91,000 pints of blood this year to meet the needs of hospitals in Iowa, and Student Senators from the Emmetsburg Campus of Iowa Lakes will help in that effort.
