Iowa Lakes Community College will sustain its state
accreditation through 2008, according to Tom Grimm, Iowa
Department of Education consultant and chair of the 2003

SMITH WELLNESS
CENTER RECEIVES "ICEBERG" FOR ITS POOL
A newly acquired 'iceberg' is in the Arthur and Audrey
Smith Wellness Center Swimming Pool and it's getting quite
a lot of 'after school' attention from students. It's an
inflatable unit that has a climbing wall on one side and a
slide on the other side.

EVENING/WEEKEND NURSING PROGRAM PROPOSED BY IOWA LAKES
COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR RESIDENTS OF THE CORRIDOR
Following the successful launch of an evening and weekend
nursing course in Algona this fall, college officials
began looking at expanding the opportunities for residents
in the western portion of the Iowa Lakes Community College
region. There continues to be a need for trained nursing
staff at area health facilities.

Iowa Lakes Community College has a new Executive
Dean of the Emmetsburg Campus, pending Board of Trustees
action. Thomas Brotherton, of Creston was selected
following a round of two-day interviews with four
candidates.

STUDENTS SIGN UP FOR ALGONA NURSING PROGRAM
Just over two dozen individuals are on their way to
reaching their dream - thanks to the Algona Center of Iowa
Lakes Community College. Twenty-five men and women of all
ages have begun to take evening and weekend classes to
prepare themselves to begin classes next fall toward
achieving a Practical Nursing diploma.
