ACTIVITY CENTER FEATURES DAILY “EXPERTS”
The new Iowa Lakes Community College Activity Center at the 2003 Clay County Fair will showcase a wide variety of state-of the-art programs. The Activity Center, located on the second floor of the Agriculture Building, will be staffed by program coordinators and students and will feature hands-on technology and educational advancements.

YOUNG CHILDREN CAN EXPERIENCE FARM LIFE ‘UP CLOSE’ AND LEARN ABOUT ‘FINDING THEMSELVES’ AT CLAY COUNTY FAIR
Young children, who live in cities and small towns and have never had the opportunity to go to a farm, will have the chance to get close to baby pigs the first weekend of the Clay County Fair.

Iowa Lakes Community College has announced the establishment of a new scholarship. This scholarship is a direct result of the college’s “We Believe In Us” Annual Giving Program.

An Iowa Lakes Community College employee has earned a nationwide certification in her area of expertise. Carla Fank was recently awarded the designation of Certified Student Leader during the National Conference on Student Services.

OSHA SEMINAR PLANNED FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
The Iowa Small Business Development Centers and Small Business Compliance Alliance will present “OSHA’s Knocking, Are You Ready?” on Wednesday, Sept. 24,  from 9 a.m. – 12 noon, at the Iowa Lakes Community College Spencer Center, Spencer.

UNIQUE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM FEATURED AT MEETING
The members of the Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College were updated Tuesday evening on the start-up of a new, computer forensics program at the college.  The computer forensics program is one of the options which may be pursued by students in criminal justice.

FARM EXPO PLANNED AT IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE FARM LAB
The Farm Lab of Iowa Lakes Community College will host its annual Farm Expo on Thursday, September 4 at the test plot site. All area residents, as well as past alumni of Iowa Lakes, are invited to tour the Palo Alto Corn and Soybean Growers Association plots as well as the Farm Laboratory starting at 4 p.m.

UPWARD BOUND SUMMER AWARDS BANQUET RECOGNIZES STUDENTS
Upward Bound held its annual Summer Awards Banquet on Monday, July 21.  Fifty-seven students were honored at a banquet in the Iowa Lakes Community College Student Center in Emmetsburg.  They were recognized for their dedication to academic excellence and their desire to earn a college degree.

EVENING/WEEKEND NURSING PROGRAM PROPOSED FOR ALGONA CENTER OF IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE
A new program is being proposed for the Algona Center of Iowa Lakes Community College. Individuals interested in pursuing a nursing career will have an opportunity to keep their daytime jobs and take classes on weekends and evenings.
