SOPER SHOOTS 89 ON DAY ONE
Ricca Soper turned in an opening day 89, the
day after the scheduled start. She shot a 45
on the front nine and a 44 on the back nine.
The Women’s NJCAA National Golf Tournament
in Daytona Beach, Fla., was scheduled to
begin on Monday, May 12, but wildfires in
the area pushed back the tee-times to
Tuesday, May 13.
“We were just happy to get a round in
today,” said Coach Dan Soper. “Yesterday the
whole area was smoky and we weren’t sure the
tournament was going to get started.”
Due to the staggered tee times, Soper will
not be sure of her standing versus the field
until everyone has completed the opening
round.
“An educated guess would be that she is
sitting right about the middle of the pack,”
said Coach Soper. “No matter where she is,
we know she’ll have some work to do in the
upcoming rounds.”
