LAKERS BEGIN PLAY AT NATIONALS THURSDAY
The Iowa Lakes Community College Softball
team will begin its quest for a national
title Thursday, May 15, at 12 p.m. The
Lakers will play Kankakee Community College,
located in Kankakee, Ill., for their first
game of the tournament, which is being held
in Normal, Ill.
The Lakers, 54-11, are coming off four
straight wins in the Region XI Tournament.
Kankakee, 42-9, defeated College of Lake
County to win their region.
A win for the Lakers will move them into the
championship bracket where they will play at
4 p.m. the same day against Sauk Valley
Community College. With a loss, the Lakers
would move into the consolation bracket and
would play at 6 p.m. Thursday.
“We have a tough draw, but I think our
schedule has prepared our team for the
competition we will face,” said Coach Mike
Bosch. “A national stage is exciting for our
program.”
