SIXTH ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP
POKER RIDE IS JULY 19
Motorcycle enthusiasts should mark their
calendar on Saturday, July 19 for the 6th
Annual Iowa Lakes Foundation Scholarship
Poker Ride. Proceeds from this ride benefit
students with scholarships to attend Iowa
Lakes Community College.
New to the ride for 2008 is the
opportunity for riders to preregister.
Preregistering will assure riders receive
the entry gift they want (shirt style and
size or bandana). Riders will still be able
to register the day of the ride, but the
entry gift will be limited to a bandana with
the ride’s new logo.
The ride will begin at the Algona campus
with registration from 8-9 a.m. The $20 per
person registration fee includes entry gift,
snacks, bottled water, lunch, door prizes,
games and poker hand. Riders will continue
on to the Emmetsburg, Spencer and Spirit
Lake campuses. The ride will end at the
Estherville campus with lunch served from 11
a.m. - 1p.m. in air-conditioned comfort.
Door prizes, poker hand dealing, and ride
raffle drawings will be take place at the
Estherville campus.
Riders will have the opportunity to
participate in the ride raffle for items
donated by area businesses and individuals.
New to this year’s ride is a raffle
sponsored by the Algona H.O.G. (Harley
Owners Group) Chapter for a Snap-On tool
storage unit (retail value $8,895 donated by
Snap-On Tools). Tickets are $5 each and
winner will be announced on Saturday, Aug.
23 at 7 p.m. at Ernie’s Harley Davidson in
Algona. This raffle’s proceeds will
specifically benefit students with
scholarships for vocational programs at Iowa
Lakes.
