INFINITY SCHOLARS PRESENT PROJECTS AT IOWA
LAKES
The Infinity Scholars displayed their
capstone presentations at the Estherville
campus of Iowa Lakes Community College at an
Open House May 5.
The sophomore students who participated in
this Scholarship Capstone Event were Phil
Becker, Estherville, Aviation; Derek Berven,
Ringsted, Aviation; Todd Buffington, Forest
City, Aviation; Daniel Christensen, Pisgah,
Engineering Transfer; Sarah Clarke, Dunnell,
Minn., Math Education transfer; and Emily
Geerdes, Everly, Science transfer.
Other students participating were Catland
Landegent, Alvord, Environmental Studies;
Jerrod Lundberg, Spirit Lake, Sustainable
Energy Resources Management; Lane Mars,
Orange City, Aviation; Todd Murray,
Estherville, Sustainable Energy Resources
Management; Caryn Robinson, Cylinder,
Science transfer; Allison Walders, Ringsted,
Math Education transfer; and Kimberly White,
Burbank, Calif., Science transfer.
To apply for this scholarship, eligible
students must be enrolled (or plan to
enroll) full-time in any of the targeted
programs: Aviation, Biorenewable Fuels
Technology, Computer Aided Drafting and
Design, Computer Programming, Computer
Science, Environmental Studies, Information
Technology, Sustainable Energy Resources
Management and Wind Energy and Turbine
Technology. Also, students enrolled in
Education transfer (math or science focus),
Engineering transfer, Mathematics transfer,
or Science transfer programs are eligible to
be an Infinity Scholars.
To participate, students must have earned a
high school GPA of 3.0 and/or maintain an
Iowa Lakes GPA of 3.25 or better and enroll
in the Infinity Scholars Course. Support for
these scholarships is provided by the
National Science Foundation’s S-STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
scholarship program under grant DUE
