LAKER MEN ADVANCE TO GOLF NATIONALS
Iowa Lakes Community College’s men golfers ended
Region XI action Monday. The college is sending
three individuals to National Competition, with
the team placing second.
Nick Christensen, Tom Thompson and Ross
Froehlich all qualified for Nationals.
Froehlich won a 3-way playoff for the final
individual spot with a par on the 1st hole.
Christensen is a freshman from Mission, Texas.
He shot a two-day total of 150. Thompson and
Froehlich are sophomores. Thompson is from
Kimball, S.D., and Froehlich is from Algona.
They shot a 151 and 153 respectively over the
two days.
Nationals will be held May 20-23 at the Palm
Valley Golf Course in Phoenix, Ariz.
This year’s team set the all-time match
victories record at the college with a final
match record of 50-18. The team is coached by
Dan Soper.
