LEARNING STYLE ANALYSIS TRAINING OFFERED AT
IOWA LAKES
Iowa Lakes Community College with be
offering a Learning Style Analysis
certificate training class at the end of
June at the Estherville campus.
College students who struggled in middle and
high school have found that they can learn
better when they are taught how to adapt any
teaching style to their own learning style.
“At Iowa Lakes, we have utilized the
Learning Style Analysis (LSA) with all of
our incoming freshmen for the past seven
years,” said Lynn Dodge, Success Center
Professor. “I have had students share their
relief that they really were good students
once they learned how to use their learning
strengths. Some need to read out loud
or study with others; while some need it
quiet or to study alone. There are 49
different elements that are assessed.”
The LSA is helpful in the workplace, as
well. Because the learning style does
not change much as an adult, the learning
style becomes one’s working style.
Besides being beneficial to students the LSA
can be a very useful tool in the classroom,
as a group profile of students can be
created. This allows faculty to have a
better picture of the learning styles of
their students without the guesswork.
A class is being offered at Iowa Lakes this
summer for certificate training in utilizing
the Learning Style Analysis June 23 and 24
in room 48 at the Estherville campus. The
class may be taken for recertification
credit ($60), 1 graduate credit from
Morningside ($110), or 1 graduate credit
from Drake ($160) by signing up with AEA 8
