THREE HOTEL & RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT STUDENTS
RECEIVE RECOGNITION IN MAGAZINE
Three Iowa Lakes students were honored in
the May issue of Restaurant Startup &
Growth magazine.
They were honored as Food Service 2008
Scholar Award Winners by Restaurant
Startup & Growth magazine along with
Tyson Food Service. The students honored
were Christopher Pederson, of Estherville
and formerly of Lamberton, Minn.; Justin
Johnson, of Emmetsburg; and Rachel Finnern
of Spirit Lake.
Pederson has certifications from the
National Restaurant Association (NRA) and
the American Hotel and Lodging Association
and has entered many culinary competitions.
Johnson and Finnern also have certifications
from the NRA, the American Hotel and Lodging
Association, as well as, ServSafe and TIPS.
They are co-presidents of the Hotel and
Restaurant Management Club and participants
in culinary competitions. Finnern also
conducts cake decorating seminars in her
spare time.
