STUDENTS WIN NATIONAL AWARDS WITH BUSINESS
PROFESSIONALS GROUP
Several students from Iowa Lakes Community
College have returned home with awards
following the national competition at Reno,
Nev., for the Business Professionals of
America organization.
Over 6,000 conference delegates from across
the nation participated in the
national-level of business skill
competitions, workshops, general sessions,
and the national officer candidate campaigns
and election.
Jessica Hill, of Emmetsburg and formerly of
Ida Grove, is a sophomore enrolled in the
Medical Office Technology program. She
placed in the top 10 for three events. Her
awards included second place in Advanced
Word Processing Skills; fourth in Medical
Office Procedures; and sixth place in Basic
Office System and Procedures.
Dane Zitteritsch, is a freshman enrolled in
the Information Technology program from
Everly. He placed second in PC
Troubleshooting.
Jen Freck of Mallard enrolled in the
Administrative Assistant program; received
seventh place in Fundamental Word
Processing; while Amber Sandvig of Laurens,
enrolled in the Office Specialist program,
took eighth place in Fundamental Word
Processing.
Business Professionals of America is a
national career and technical student
organization for high school and college
students preparing for careers in business
and office occupations. The
organization's activities and programs
compliment classroom instruction by giving
students practical experience through
application of the skills learned in
college.
