LAKER MEN NAME FOUR TO ALL-REGION TEAMS

Iowa Lakes Community College men’s basketball team has landed four players on the 2008 Region XI All-Region team. Cornelius Vines received first team honors; Jimmie Marshall and Mitch Bain earned second team; and Jackson Parr was an honorable mention selection.

Vines, a sophomore from Syracuse, NY, averaged 17 points per game, 4 rebounds per game, and 2.5 assists per game. Marshall, a sophomore guard from Milwaukee, Wisc., averaged 12 points, 3 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Bain, a sophomore from Nassau, Bahamas, averaged 11.7 points and 4.6 rebounds. Parr, a sophomore post from Gold Coast, Australia, averaged 5.5 points and 5 rebounds per game.

Iowa Lakes ended their season with a 21-10 overall and 9-5 overall.

The full list of the members of the first team all-region are Ali Farokhmanesh, Kirkwood; Grant Burns, DMACC; Cornelius Vines, Iowa Lakes; Tony Lewis, Ellsworth; Rodney Grace, DMACC; Anthony Davis, Southwestern; Greg Schulz, Iowa Central; Keith Kuentsling, Iowa Central.

Members of the second team all-region are Edin Suljic, Ellsworth; Darell Crittendon, Kirkwood; Corey Viet, Kirkwood; Jimmie Marshall, Iowa Lakes; Brent Jackman, DMACC; Laurice Ellison, Southwestern; Mitch Bain, Iowa Lakes; Elijah Wilson, Clinton.

Players that were honorable mention are Clay Weber, Clinton; Avery Tyler, DMACC; Willi Estrella, DMACC; Mike Candelaria, Ellsworth; Leterrious Thomas, Iowa Central; Jackson Parr, Iowa Lakes; Matt Banzhaf, Kirkwood; Bryant Kucera, Kirkwood; Jermain Davis, Kirkwood; Greg Smalls, NIACC; Royce Phillips, Southwestern; Tyler Raasch, Southwestern.
