COLLEGE STUDENTS GIVE – AND THEN RECEIVE

Students in the Hotel and Restaurant Management program at Iowa Lakes learned that ‘giving’ can turn into money – especially when their heart is in the right place.

The students received a total of $150 from the Emmetsburg Catholic Daughters of America and the Knights of Columbus. What the students ‘gave’ was their time and energies in planning and cooking a Spaghetti Dinner at the Holy Family Parish Center in mid-February for nearly 200 people. The CDA members made dessert bars and then joined the KCs in serving the food at the event.

Funds raised will be placed in the Hotel and Restaurant Management Club account and used to help offset the rising cost of transportation so that students can attend a food show.

 

Hotel and Restaurant Management program students were on hand for the official check passing. They included, front row, Roseann LaFrentz, Sondra Marnin, Greg Haack, Brandon Walker, Emily TeVelde and Alice Wasson. In the second row, Jacques Mullenax, Professor Bob Halverson, CDA member Rita Rezabek, KC member Bob Wuebker, Nicole Paulsen and Associate Professor Kerry Erickson.
