IOWA LAKES FOUNDATION HOSTS DICKINSON COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP LUAU

Put on a hula skirt and get ready for a Le'ale'a time at the 2008 Dickinson County Luau to benefit students from Dickinson County with scholarships to attend Iowa Lakes Community College.

The Luau will take place on Thursday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Barefoot Bar on Lake Okoboji featuring a meal by OakTree Bar-B-Que at 7 p.m., Big Nacho karaoke, silent auctions, contests, games and door prizes.  The first 250 people in attendance at the event receive a free gift.  Prizes will be awarded to those who are ‘best dressed’ in tropical theme. At 9 p.m. silent auctions close and the winning raffle tickets will be drawn.

Luau event tickets are $15 per person prior to the event or $20 at the door.  Luau raffle tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50 and give the ticket purchaser a chance to win a 42” Panasonic Plasma TV partially donated by Melanders TV & Appliance or a $1,000 travel voucher redeemable at Sunset Travel.  Raffle and event tickets may be purchased in advance at the Iowa Lakes Spirit Lake campus, Barefoot Bar or by calling Trish Morfitt at 800-242-5106 ext. 4425.  Raffle tickets will also be available for purchase the night of the event and ticket purchasers need not be present to win.

Spirit Lake campus Dean Darin Moeller stated, “The Luau is an outstanding event that has grown each year and the funds from this event are truly making a difference for Dickinson County residents.  Each dollar raised creates educational opportunities for students, many of whom may not have been able to attend college otherwise.”
