IOWA LAKES COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION
HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Iowa Lakes
Community College Foundation was held January 14 at the Spirit
Lake campus. A campus update was heard from Darin Moeller, Dean
of the campus.
Doug Lago of Estherville was elected
President, Tom Manley of Spencer as Vice President, Roxanne
White of Everly as Treasurer and Foundation staff member Beth
Kraft of Estherville as Recording Secretary.
The Foundation was originally formed in 1982
as a housing foundation for the Estherville campus. In 1995 it
began to evolve into the organization as it is known today. It
was incorporated on September 13, 1996, as a 501(c)3 non-profit
organization. The foundation is structured to serve the entire
college district with directors from each of the five counties
who focus on developing scholarships and other resources for the
benefit of all Iowa Lakes students.
The Foundation’s annual giving program known
as “We Believe In Us” is supported by Iowa Lakes employees, area
businesses and individuals from the college’s five-county area
and beyond. The employee portion of this year’s giving program
was very successful with 89 percent of full-time and 66 percent
of part-time employees participating for a total of over
$56,400. The community portion of the annual giving program is
scheduled to be launched at the beginning of February.
New in 2006 to the Foundation was the Iowa
Lakes Community College President’s Circle, initiated by Iowa
Lakes President Harold Prior. Fifty-three businesses and/or
individuals have joined the circle to intensify their
relationship and support of Iowa Lakes and its students through
establishment of new scholarships or other support of their
choice.
