‘WEBCASTS’ PROVING POPULAR ON IOWA LAKES WEB SITE

The Iowa Lakes Broadcast Media Specialist program will be broadcasting a mix of different events over the Internet in the next few months – including this weekend’s Men’s Basketball Regional Finals.

The second coffeehouse of the year was broadcast live over the Internet on February 13. This was the first non-athletic event that the college broadcasting students Webcast.

The college Web site has had over 2,260 people watch the different events since the webcasting started, with viewers from as far away as the Bahamas.

Bob Pritchard the Broadcast Media Specialist coordinator had this to say about the webcast; “Broadcasting the events has enhanced the program viably and has helped promote the college on the World Wide Web.”

To watch the broadcasts the receiving computer will need to have Windows Media Player installed on it. This spring, Iowa Lakes plans to broadcast selected athletic events, music events, commencement ceremonies, and other activities as announced. To access the link, click the ‘quick links’ then ‘Webcast’. This will bring viewers to a list of events, or go to www.iowalakes.edu/webcast/.
