IOWA LAKES WRESTLING WILL HELP HOST
NATIONAL TOURNAMENT IN DES MOINES
The new wrestling program at Iowa Lakes
Community College will help host the National
Junior College Athletic Association wrestling
tournament in 2010 in Des Moines.
The NJCAA agreed recently to hold the national
wrestling tournament in Veteran’s Memorial
Auditorium in February of 2010. All four
community college schools that have a wrestling
program in Iowa will contribute to the event.
Iowa Lakes’ role will be to help provide
volunteers to staff the event.
“Having Iowa Lakes Community College wrestling
as a new program in the fall of 2008 is
exciting,” said Head Coach Jason McCloud. “Being
able to be a co-host of the 2010 NJCAA National
Tournament in Des Moines keeps adding to the
excitement. I have heard that ‘The Barn’ is a
great venue to watch wrestling, and I am looking
forward to a spectacular event for our student
athletes.”
McCloud also emphasized the importance of Iowa
to the sport of wrestling and what a great
opportunity co-hosting will be for Iowa Lakes
Community College.
“Iowa is synonymous with wrestling and to help
host a NJCAA National Championship in our second
year will be incredible opportunity and
experience for our program,” he said.
