WALK-ON WRESTLERS ANNOUNCED AT IOWA LAKES
Iowa Lakes Community College’s newly formed
wrestling program has announced the students who
will be attending Iowa Lakes and also pursuing a
wrestling career this fall.
Joel McGrauth, wrestling in the 184 lb. weight
class, is from Graettinger and has a high school
record of 94-32. He was the wrestling captain of
his team at Graettinger-Terril High School. He
was conference runner up in 2005-06 and in
2006-07. He was a conference champion his senior
year.
Luis Rosales, who will be wrestling at the 125
lb. class, is from Madison, Neb., and was season
leader in takedowns at his school. His high
school career record is 105-19.
Ramiro Benavides, who will be wrestling in the
149 lb. weight class, is also from Madison,
Neb., and was the Madison career leader in pins,
second all-time with 120 wins and the first
Madison High school wrestler to win two state
titles. Benavides’ high school career record is
120-34. He was selected to the Disney duals team
where he went 6-4. He was also selected to NSWCA
all-star dual for seniors.
James Funk, who will be wrestling at the 197 lb.
weight class, is from Paulsboro, N.J., and has a
high school career record of 108-15. He placed
sixth at state as a junior.
Denton Weimer will also be wrestling in the 197
lb. weight class and is from Portland, Maine. He
has 140 takedowns, 88 pins and five
championships. His high school record was
129-38. Weimer was co-captain of his wrestling
team. He had the most pins in a season and was
second team all-state his junior year and first
team his senior year.
