CORNELIUS VINES EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
The 2007-2008 All-American teams have been
released by the National Junior College Athletic
Association and Iowa Lakes Community College’s
Cornelius Vines has been named to the third
team.
Vines, a 6’2” sophomore from Syracuse, New York,
had a very productive career for the Lakers. In
2006, Vines averaged 18 points, five rebounds
and three assists on the season. He had a season
high 39 points against Marshalltown Community
College and was an Honorable Mention All-Region
selection.
In 2007, Vines helped the Lakers to a 21-10
overall record and 9-5 region record by
averaging 17.6 points, four rebounds, and three
assists per game. He had a season high of 37
points against Marshalltown Community College
and was a First Team All-Region performer.
Other Region XI players who received
All-American honors are as follows: Ali
Farokhmanesh, Kirkwood, First Team; Grant Burns,
Des Moines Area Community College, Second Team;
and Tony Lewis, Ellsworth, Third Team.
Vines is undecided on where he will continue his
basketball career.
