STUDENTS WIN STATE AWARDS WITH BUSINESS
PROFESSIONALS GROUP
Several students from Iowa Lakes Community
College have returned home with awards following
the state competition for the Business
Professionals of America organization.
For teams, the Network Design Team placed first
with team members Cristen Tandberg of Algona,
Scott Prader of Havelock, Dane Zittritsch of
Everly and Andrew Strohman of Spencer. Carissa
Greco of Fayette and Tina Jehle of Havelock
placed first in the Presentation Management
Team. The Administrative Support Team which
consisted of team members Kristen Kathman of
Everly, Amber Sandvig of Laurens and Jennifer
Frerk of Mallard placed third in the
competition.
Those on the Network Design Team which took the
top spot in the state also competed in other
categories. Cristin Tandberg (Information
Technology) placed second in Microsoft Network
Administration and third in PC Servicing and
Troubleshooting. Scott Prader (Information
Technology) also placed first in Microsoft
Network Administration and fifth in Interview
Skills. Dane Zittritsch (Information Technology)
won first in PC Servicing and Troubleshooting
and fifth in Microsoft Network Administration.
Andrew Strohman (Information Technology) took
third in Microsoft Network Administration and
10th in PC Servicing and Troubleshooting.
In addition to first place in the Presentation
Management Team, Carissa Greco (Office
Specialist) placed fourth in Desktop Publishing
and sixth in Database Applications; and, Tina
Jehle (Administrative Assistant) placed second
in both Spreadsheet Applications and Analysis
and Payroll Accounting.
The Administrative Support Team which placed
third also had team members participating in
other competitions. Kristen Kathman
(Administrative Assistant) placed third in
Integrated Office Applications and fourth in
Advanced Word Processing Skills. Amber Sandvig
(Office Specialist) took third in Fundamental
Word Processing Skills. And, Jennifer Frerk
(Administrative Assistant) was second in
Integrated Office Applications and fifth in
Fundamental Word Processing Skills.
Other students participating included Mike
Fries, Denison, (Information Technology) who was
second in Fundamentals of XHTML and eighth in PC
Servicing and Troubleshooting. Also, Monica
Rosacker, Ruthven, (Administrative Assistant)
placed third in both Fundamental Accounting and
Payroll Accounting as well as fifth in Basic
Office Systems & Procedures.
Additional students in individual competitions
were Jessica Hill, of Emmetsburg and formerly of
Ida Grove, (Medical Office Technology) who
placed first in Medical Office Procedures,
second in Basic Office Systems and Procedures
and sixth in Advanced Word Processing. Tina
Brown from Plover (Administrative Assistant) won
first in Advanced Office Systems and Procedures
and third in Desktop Publishing. Crystal Long,
Spencer, placed eighth in Fundamental Word
Processing Skills.
Business Professionals of America is a national
career and technical student organization for
high school and college students preparing for
careers in business and office occupations.
The organization's activities and programs
compliment classroom instruction by giving
students practical experience through
application of the skills learned in college.
