1ST ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED BY
IOWA LAKES FOR DINNER DATE/ FOOD SERVICE IN SPENCER
An open house will be held Oct. 2 at the
Spencer Area Activity Center to celebrate the first anniversary
for Iowa Lakes to provide meal service to students – and to
provide meals for Dinner Date.
It was a perfect ‘match’ when the college
began food service to its students living on campus. The
college applied to Northwest Aging Association to be the
provider of Dinner Date meals – and the college bid was
accepted, starting in the fall of 2006.
The Spencer Ambassadors will help kick-off
the one-year anniversary celebration with an official visit
starting at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2. That will be followed with a
special noon meal for Dinner Date of ham, sweet potatoes,
lettuce, scalloped corn, dinner roll, pumpkin pie and a drink
for $3.85.
Iowa Lakes Community College works in
conjunction with Northwest Aging Association to provide Dinner
Date meals (cooked on site) Monday through Friday at the Spencer
Area Activity Center on a contribution basis (for persons 60 and
older.) Members of the public are also invited to participate
in the noon meals as well as breakfast and dinner. (Monday
through Friday; Prices are posted.)
