SECOND HIGHEST ENROLLMENT RECORDED AT IOWA
LAKES
Enrollment at Iowa Lakes Community College is at its second
highest figure in the history of the college.
The fall 2007 enrollment stands at 3,919 – just 21 students
shy of last year’s all-time record.
Strong figures came from the Arts and Sciences area as well
as Vocational-Technical classes. Arts & Science numbers are up
3.6 percent and the Vocational-Technical enrollments are up
nearly 3.1 percent over last year.
Julie Carlson, Dean of Enrollment Management, said it’s
satisfying to see the robust numbers.
“Considering that enrollments at the secondary schools which
typically ‘feed’ into Iowa Lakes have been declining
consistently for several years, our numbers are outstanding,”
said Carlson. “The faculty and staff at Iowa Lakes truly care
about our students and I think that’s reflected in the strong
enrollment numbers.”
Iowa Lakes offers more than 100 areas of study at its five
locations in Algona, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer and Spirit
Lake. Students come from 25 states, 10 foreign countries and 75
percent of Iowa's counties. In addition, the college provides
training and retraining to employees of area business and
industry as well as continuing education courses.
