As the result of a partnership between Iowa Lakes Community College and Global Ethanol of Lakota, Iowa, this scholarship was established by Global Ethanol in 2006 to further support the renewable energy industry. Eligible candidates are full time students enrolled in the Iowa Lakes Renewable Energy program.

The 2007-08 recipients of the Global Ethanol Bio-Energy Scholarship are Nicholas Gilliland of Algona and Michael Nees of Coon Rapids.
